All trainees who participate in a Butterfly Touch Massage or Gentle Bio-Energetics training program are encouraged to practice the techniques learned with family and friends, with permission of the receiver, to the level of their ability. Within the context of the specific program, your trainer should define the skill level of proficiency that you have achieved. Those who are in a profession that will allow them to do so, may begin to use the techniques with clients, with their permission and under supervision of a trainer.

Certified Practitioners

To become a certified practitioner and to use the term Practitioner requires meeting specific requirements as stated below.
 
1. Certified Gentle Bio-Energetics Practitioner
 To achieve this level, students must complete a minimum 500 hour training program including the following:
 
100 hours of advanced training in Gentle Bio-Energetics by attending at least one 8 day program, preferably more.
100 hours of using the different tools on clients.  (the specific requirements  are spelled out in the forms)
100 hours of receiving the tools from others.  (the specific requirements  are spelled out in the forms)
100 hours in a BA or Masters Degree  or equivalent
100 hours made up of attending more training programs, certification in other therapies, supervision, etc.
 
The Institute or its representative has the right to work with the student to meet the requirements in an appropriate way.
 
When the student has achieved a level of proficiency in the theory, tools and personal life, then a peer review can be conducted to evaluate the student’s level in these areas and recommend if the student is ready to be certified.
 
The student will also provide a resume, vita and agree to a contract to support the work and stay in contact with the Institute.  This is spelled out further in the hand book..
 

Certified Trainer

After being certified as Gentle Bio-Energetics Practitioners, students may enter a program to become trainers.  During this process they would be expected to:

• observe and assist the trainer teach a course
• teach the course themselves
• have at least one student achieve certified practitioner status
• attend one advanced training course
• receive supervision after teaching courses
• pass a written and/or oral review.

 
Certified Trainers would demonstrate:

• the ability to teach the theory of Gentle Bio-Energetics (including teaching an introduction)
• to have experienced all the tools and to teach the
• how to train students in the art of Gentle Bio-Energetics working with clients of Gentle Bio-Energetics to develop competency in the process
• Be in a process of Gentle Bio-Energetics therapy for self.
• Attend a review day to demonstrate in an oral exam an understanding of the theory and application of Gentle Bio-Energetics.
• Pay appropriate fees.
• Attend review workshop once a year or biannually.

When the student and trainer feel ready then attending and evaluation seminar in which the student would demonstrate an understanding of the tools and their application. 
 
The Institute and its representative reserves the right to alter any requirement to meet the needs of the student to fulfill the requirements and achieve the level required for certification and to help the Gentle Bio-Energetics Institute fulfill its mission.
